(assuming if you are studying this course you already know what a virtual machine is&#8230;)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows or Linux<\/li>\n<li>Can be accessed using RDP or SSH<\/li>\n<li>Can be placed on a virtual network<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You are responsible for managing server<\/p>\n<h3>Virtual Machines Abstractions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Azure Batch: to run large-scale parallel and high-performance computing (HPC) batch jobs efficiently in Azure. You use batch API&#8217;s and command line scripts to manage this<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/batch\/batch-technical-overview\">https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/batch\/batch-technical-overview<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Virtual Machine Scale Sets:\u00a0 This is 2 or more VMs running behind a load balancer. It is provided as a service in a single package. <i>There is more on this later in Section 13<br \/>\n<\/i><\/li>\n<li>Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS): This allows you to deploy and manage containerised applications in Azure<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-au\/services\/kubernetes-service\/\">https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-au\/services\/kubernetes-service\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Service Fabric: This is a distributed systems platform that allows you to package, deploy and manage microservices and containers.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/service-fabric\/service-fabric-overview\">https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/service-fabric\/service-fabric-overview<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>App Services<\/h3>\n<p>These are fully managed servers and you don\u2019t have remote access to them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Web apps or container apps<\/li>\n<li>Windows or Linux (you cant pick the version)<\/li>\n<li>Lots of benefits in scaling, continuous improvement etc\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Azure Storage and Data Services<\/h2>\n<p><em><strong>NB: data services are not covered on this exam<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Azure Storage<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Can have as many storage accounts as you want.
