Configuring On-Premise Active Directory to Support Additional Domains<\/h2>\n

Seamless SSO<\/h3>\n

The goal with this is for users to logon to the local domain and be automatically logged in to Microsoft 365<\/p>\n

Adding another UPN (User Principal Name)<\/h3>\n

To allow your users to be associated with another domain you need to add a UPN for that domain in Active Directory.<\/p>\n

To do this:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Go to “Active Directory Domains and Trusts”<\/li>\n
  2. Go to Properties<\/li>\n
  3. From here you can add an alternative UPN suffix<\/li>\n
  4. Then you can select this alternative domain name as the username for your users in AD<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Adding and Verifying Additional Domain Names in Microsoft 365 \/Azure<\/h2>\n

    You must have your domain setup with public DNS to set this up.<\/p>\n

    Adding a Domain<\/h3>\n
      \n
    1. Go to M365 Admin Centre -> Settings -> Domains<\/li>\n
    2. Click add a Domain<\/li>\n
    3. Enter the domain name<\/li>\n
    4. Click Use This Domain<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Verifying the Domain<\/h3>\n

      If it is a GoDaddy domain you can just use your GoDaddy credentials. Otherwise there are 2 ways to verify your domain:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Add a TXT record to your domain DNS<\/li>\n
      • Add an MX record to your domain DNS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Setting the Primary Domain Name in the M365 Admin Centre<\/h2>\n
          \n
        1. Go to M365 Admin Centre -> Settings -> Domains<\/li>\n
        2. Select the domain you want to make the Primary<\/li>\n
        3. Click the “Set as default” option at the top<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Now when you add users it will set this domain as their username<\/p>\n

          Configuring User Identities for using a New Domain Name<\/h2>\n

          Using M365 Admin Centre<\/strong><\/p>\n

          1. Go to M365 Admin -> Users -> Active Users<\/li>\n
          2. Select a user with the old domain name -> Manage Username<\/li>\n
          3. There you can use the drop down menu to\u00a0 configure there username with the new domain name<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
